According to the Italian media “Il Posticipo”, a club from Romania called Poiana Mare decided to forfeit a match for quite a strange reason.
One of the team players, Delia Ionut was going to get married the same day of an important official match and the club decide to join the important ceremony and leave the rival team alone at the stadium.
The result was an automatic victory of the rival team for 3-0.
The club commented about the decision in this way:
“Today is a very special day for our friend and teammate Delia Ionut, because he is going to marry his beloved wife Diana. Due to attending to this important appointment, we decided to forfeit the official game against CS Carcea.
We asked to the soccer association to change the date of the game but our request was denied.
However, we decided to go to the wedding even if the result was to lose three important points because, in exchange for that, we gained “friendship” and “love”.”
Really nice story…we hope the supporters think about it the same way.
