Thailand international left-back Theerathon Bunmathan finally scored his first goal for Yokohama F. Marinos, a club he joined at the beginning of this season, with a strike that was certainly worth the wait. His goal was the first for Yokohama in their 3-1 win over Gamba Osaka, which helped Ange Postecoglu’s side retain their place in the top three.
After receiving the ball from the right, Theerathon steadied himself with a touch before firing a powerful effort with his prodigious left foot. The Thai star sent it curling into the right corner of the net, giving Gamba goalkeeper Masaaki Higashiguchi no chance of stopping the shot.

Elsewhere, two other Thai players were also in action in the J.League. Chanathip helped Consadole Sapporo to a 3-2 win over Vissel Kobe, playing for the entire 90 minutes. Elsewhere, Thitipan Puangchan started for Oita Trinita in their 0-0 draw against fellow promoted side Matsumoto Yamaga FC, being withdrawn in the 86th minute.
All three players will now join up with the National Squad, under the stewardship of Japanese boss Akira Nishino for the first time, in preparation for World Cup Qualifying games against Vietnam and Indonesia over the coming days.
