Indonesia Liga 1 Notes From Week 15 – A Week Full of Surprises

The most recent game week of Liga 1 has been full of surprises, as PS TIRA-Persikabo earned a big loss that made Bali United’s chance to be mid-season champions greater. Elsewhere, many other big clubs also got poor results before the first half of the league wraps up.

A Bitter Gift from Ex

Jacksen F. Tiago, who returned to the Demang Lehman Stadium, gave a bitter gift to his ex-club for last three years, Barito Putera. In front of a thousand Bartman who watch the game, his side scored four goals into Laskar Pangeran Antasari’s net. This win also helped Persipura Jayapura remain unbeaten for four consecutive games since Jacksen's arrival, and they have since risen to the 8th position with 20 points.

Run Out of Fuel, Daeng?

PSS Sleman's game against PSM Makassar might go down as the most entertaining of the week. After leading by two goals, Juku Eja were shocked with three that Super Elja managed to score, with two of them going through Rivky Mokodompit’s net in the last 10 minutes. This loss was PSM Makassar third in their last five, while the win helped PSS maintain their position in the top five.

Marko the Croatian Tiger

A draw in a classic match between Persebaya Surabaya against Persija Jakarta last Saturday again demonstrated Macan Kemayoran’s dependency of Marko Simic. The ex Croatia U-21 striker has already netted 12 goals in 12 games for them, which has accounted for  75% of their total goals so far this season. So, how about Persija’s fate if one day Marko injured?

Alex Goncalves Gets the Better of Laskar Padjajaran

After earning their first loss of the season a few weeks ago PS TIRA-Persikabo have now suffered a critical hit after their loss against Persela Lamongan in Surajaya Stadium on Sunday, as the home side won their last home game before mid-season. Laskar Padjajaran, who lost some key players during the national team preparation conceded six goals, with three of them being scored by the league's leading goalscorer Alex Goncalves, who took his tally to 15 goals. The only goal that they could score into Laskar Joko Tingkir’s net was scored by ex-Persela striker Loris Arnaud.

Serdadu Tridatu’s Divine Record

A 2-1 winning over Arema maintained Bali United lead over the league with a total of 37 points. Ilija Spasojevic and his colleagues have now recorded seven consecutive wins, breaking a record held by Bhayangkara FC (in 2017) and PSM Makassar (in 2018). Bali United have also won all eight of their home games this season. So can they break the myth that the mid-season champions can’t be the league champions?

Results of Week 16

Here are all the results from Week 16 which already finished on Sunday night. What a week full of surprises for Persib Bandung and Bhayangkara FC, who both failed to win their matches, while Madura United returned to their winning ways under the guidance of their caretaker, coach Rasiman. Semen Padang, who earlier bagged two consecutive wins, remain bottom after a loss this week.

Schedule for Week 17

The last game week of the first half of the campaign will be played from Friday to Sunday, but before entering the Week 17, there are some delayed Week 7 matches to be played.  There's the big one between Persija Jakarta against PSM Makassar and two others: Madura United vs Semen Padang and Bali United vs Borneo FC.
