U.S. soccer Federation has appointed former Iran national team assistant coach Omid Namazi as U.S. men’s U-20 team coach.
Namazi had served as Carlos Queiroz’s assistant in Iran national team from 2011 to 2014 before moving to U.S women team as assistant manager in 2015.
He returned to Iran in May 2018 and took charge of Isfahan club Zob Ahan but he got sacked before end of the 2018-19 season due to the poor results.
Namazi then joined to Danish club Helsingor as caretaker and the club announced he would be their manager for the new season but he decided to part ways with them.
Now he will serve as Tab Ramos’s assistant in United States U-20 national team.
Namazi, who has a bachelor’s degree in exercise philosophy from WVU, played for the U.S. National Futsal Team in 2002-2003, earning five caps while scoring two goals.
