Results of Week 8

Here are all the results from Week 8, which already finished last Sunday. So far, only Semen Padang and Persipura Jayapura have failed to win until the end of this week, while as mentioned above TIRA-Persikabo and Madura United did the opposite as they are the two remaining unbeaten sides. Meanwhile, another poor performance was also shown by Kalteng Putra, which consecutively loss on their last three games.

Barito Putera, Knocked Down Goliath from Dewata Island

Like a legendary fight in the Holy Bible and Quran, David managed to fight against an enemy far bigger than him. Just like how the old story went, Barito Putera, finally, earned their first win against the league leader Bali United. But Laskar Antasari took the lead nine minutes before the final whistle after Brazilian striker Rafael Silva headed the ball towards Wawan Hendrawan’s net last Sunday.

Iwan Sukoco in the Spotlight

But in that match, referee Iwan Sukoco became the center of attraction after he denied two Bali United goals to Aditya Harlan’s net. The first was in the 46th minutes when he called Melvin Platje offside, even though replays later show he was indeed one side. The second on the 83rd minutes after a scrimmage situation inside of Barito’s penalty box that leading into a foul to Aditya Harlan, which was used to disallow the goal. Here’s are the highlights.

Bali United’s loss by Barito Putera made PS TIRA-Persikabo happy after they reclaimed the first position until Gameweek 8 ended. Their 2-2 draw against Madura United extended their defeatless streak so far and allowed them to replace Bali at the league summit. Ciro Alves found the net again for the Indonesian Army team, and he now leads the race for the golden boot with six strikes, along with another Brazilian, Alex Goncalves from Persela Lamongan.
