Korean Striker Hwang Ui-Jo Signs for Bordeaux

South Korean international striker Hwang Ui-Jo has signed for Ligue 1 side FC Girondins de Bordeaux, according to various reports coming from France.

The 26-year-old forward currently plays for Gamba Osaka in the J.League. Last season, he finished the campaign as the division’s third highest scorer with 16 goals from 27 appearances. His goal output helped him beat out Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-Min to win the 2018 Korean Men’s Footballer of the year award.

Hwang has also registered 27 caps for the South Korean senior national team. He helped lead the team to win a Gold Medal at the 2018 Asian Games and started as the main striker for Korea at both the 2018 FIFA World Cup and 2019 AFC Asian Cup.

Hwang joins a Bordeaux side which finished 14th last season, and are gearing up for the Ligue 1 season which is set to begin on the 9th of August.
