Japanese attacking midfielder Takefusa Kubo has completed a move to Real Madrid from FC Tokyo, as officially announced by the club.
The former Barcelona academy graduate, dubbed the ‘Japanese Messi’ by supporters, was pursued by a number of top European clubs, but eventually settled on a move to the Spanish capital to join Los Blancos.
Currently on international duty with Japan as they prepare to make a guest appearance at the 2019 Copa America in Brazil. The 18-year-old recently made his debut for the Samurai Blue, becoming the second- youngest player to ever make his debut for the Japanese national side.
Kubo’s move to Real Madrid adds yet another impressive coup to what has already been an incredible summer for the 13-time European Champions. Real have already signed Eden Hazard from Chelsea, along with Luka Jovic, Eder Militao, Rodrygo, and Ferland Mendy.
Upon his arrival at the Bernabeu, Kubo is expected to play for the Castilla team in the Spanish second division.
