Thai women’s national head coach Nuengruethai Sathongwien admits that a big improvement is needed ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup after her side lost 6-1 against Belgium.

“We must accept that Belgium was by far the better side. We weren’t good enough and there is still a lot of work to be done. [Today] we saw what needs to improve and we need to fix it fast,” Nuengruethai said after the game.

“Obviously the 6 goals we’ve conceded is a massive issue. We should’ve done better to prevent them, especially [with] aerial balls down both flanks and other situations.”

This is the Chabakaew’s 2nd friendly leading up to the World Cup. The first was a 3-0 loss to France a week ago.

“I believe we need to improve on our individual and tactical side of things, as well as being more disciplined in defense since we will be facing many top rank nations. We need to improve and we need to do it quickly.”
