Former Kedah star Liridon Krasniqi, who has been linked with a move to Pahang and Johor Darul Ta’zim, has decided to sign with Melaka United.

The matter was confirmed by United Football Association of Melaka (MUSA) which issued a statement announcing that the Kosovan player signed a one-year contract with the Melaka United squad.

The club held a signing ceremony on January 22 Seri Negara, Ayer Keroh to announce their foreign signings, as Krasniqi will be joied by Brazilian forward Casagrande, Montenegrin midfielder Darko Marković and South Korean central defender Jang Suk-Won.

Melaka United, who survived the last season’s relegation battle, will be seen as a competitor in the Malaysian Super League this season. In addition to signing Liridon, Melaka United has also signed former national team captain, Safiq Rahim, adding experience and pedigree to their squad.

At the same time, MUSA President and Malacca Chief Minister Adly Zahari are convinced that the presence of some import players can build a strong team to compete in the Super League this season. “We are confident of building the best team with the assessment of the players always being improved. Some initiatives have been carried out as a step towards strengthening the team. Despite a fairly short period of time (before the start of the Super League), I believe many more things can be improved,” he said.
