Newly formed Thai League club Samut Prakan City FC have reportedly begun construction on a new 32,000 seater stadium, according to this report from Thai media outlet SMM Sport.
The club, formerly known as Pattaya United FC, are set to move from the coastal town to Samut Prakan, a province within the Bangkok Metropolitan Area and home to the city’s iconic Suvarnabhumi Airport, for the start of the 2019 season. The club are set to play in the Samut Prakan SAT Stadium until the completion of the new arena, which currently also plays host to fourth-division club Samut Prakan FC.
According to the report, the club’s ownership aim to have the project completed in three seasons. Upon completion, this will become the second largest purpose-built football stadium in the country, only behind Buriram United’s Chang Arena.
