East Timor has sealed their qualification for the 2018 AFF Championships, completing the lineup of teams at the regional tournament.
A 3-2 aggregate victory over Brunei saw them advance to the competition proper. A 3-1 victory in the “home leg,” played in Kuala Lumpur, was enough to see them through despite a 1-0 loss in Bandar Seri Begawan.
A brace from youngster Henrique Cruz and a goal from Silveiro Garcia proved to be enough, giving the nation of just over 1.2 million people a chance to prove themselves on the regional stage once again.
East Timor will face Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and the Philippines in Group B. Meanwhile, Group A features Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar.
The nation last competed in the 2018 Asian Games, where they lost all three of their group stage matches against China, Syria and the UAE, scoring three goals and conceding 15.
East Timor will kick off the tournament at home against defending Champions Thailand on the 9th of November.
