Suk Hyun-jun found the net for the first time in 2018, boosting Troyes AC’s survival hopes.

In the 35th round of League 1, Troyes, after the four consecutive losses, faced SM Caen. The host were close to losing another three points at home as Ivan Satini scored an opener, but appeared to be lucky with Caen’s own goal. Benjamin Nivet added a goal, which turned out to be the winning goal for Troyes.

What excited Koreans the most is that Suk scored his first goal in 2018. Ten minutes after he was substituted in, Suk scored his third goal to secure points. The last time he scored was a brace against AS Monaco on December 10, 2017.

Korea’s giant striker utilised his opportunities in the beginning of the season by scoring five goals in November and December. However, his scoring drought started with the new year, and since March, he has never played more than 30 minutes in a single match.

This explains why his goal is important to him, as it can help prove his value as a striker to be called up for the national team for the 2018 Russia World Cup. Of course, it also helped the team; Troyes is currently sitting the 18th with two points behind Toulouse with one less match played.
