PSM Makassar legend Syamsul Chaeruddin joins PSS Sleman

Indonesian veteran midfielder Syamsul Bachri Chaeruddin has decided not to renew his contract with PSM Makassar. Syamsul played with Borneo FC in Piala Presiden 2018, but Pesut Etam did not choose to make his status permanent. The 35-old midfielder chooses to join PSS Sleman, which will play in Indonesia’s Liga 2 this season.

Syamsul experiences are needed by PSS which has many young players. He will be perfect to be played beside Rangga Muslim and Dave Mustaine in PSS engine room this season. The signing will also cover the loss of PSS’s ex-captain, Busari, who went to Persibat Batang.

Syamsul is regarded as a useful player for PSS coach Herry Kiswanto. He previously said that the team needs one more senior player who has experiences and could be a leader on the field. “We are searching for a leader. We do not have anyone who can control the team’s rhythm and could be a leader on the field,” said Herkis, his nickname, cited from Kompas.

Syamsul suits with Herkis’ criteria. He got his experiences by playing for top teams like PSM, Persija Jakarta, and Sriwijaya FC. Do not forget that he was also got his national caps. He has the skill to control the game, which is a plus for PSS. He can also disrupt the opponent’s rhythm.

Syamsul already arrived in Sleman on Tuesday. According to the club’s manager Sismantoro, Syamsul will do his medical check-up first before signing his contract. And then, he will finally join PSS training session.
