Bali United have completed the signing of Ilija Spasojevic from the Indonesia Liga 1 champions Bhayangkara FC on Wednesday.
The 30-year-old striker reportedly has has signed a one-year contract with Laskar Serdadu Tridatu ahead of the team’s debut in AFC Champions League next year.
“Bali United have officialy signed Indonesia national team striker Ilija Spasojevic,” read a statement on the club’s official website.
It will be the second time for the Montenego-born to play in Bali island, a place where he made his Indonesian football debut in 2011 by playing for the defunct club Bali Devata in Indonesian Premier league.
Bali United, who finished as runners-up in Liga 1 this year, replaced Bhayangkara to play in Asia after the title holders failed to meet AFC club licensing regulations.
Widodo Cahyono Putro’s men will face Singapore S-League outfit Tampines Rovers in the preliminary round 1 on January 16.
