N. Thanabalan: My goal at the U-23 Championship is to help the team win every match

Malaysia striker N. Thanabalan targets a place in the starting lineup in the national U-23 team at the Under-23 AFC Championships in China next month.

“My goal at the AFC Championship is to perform just as well as I did at the Kuala Lumpur Sea Games and help the team win every match and go as far as we can,” said the Kuala Lumpur’s SEA Games hero, as quoted by the New Straits Times.

“To do that, I have to focus on my performance, especially in terms of finishing, as we will be up against some very strong teams from across Asia.

“I want to achieve more and the competition in China (AFC Championship) is a good chance for me to do so”.

Debutants Malaysia have been drawn in Group C with three Middle East sides: Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan.

Thanabalan and his side will kick off their 2018 AFC U-23 Championship campaign by the game against Iraq on January 10.
