Shandong Luneng striker Diego Tardelli has expressed his desire to return home and join Corinthians, according to his friend Jo.
“He would like that. He has already shown his affinity with the club. He came to train here [before reporting for Brazil national team duty in September],” said Jo, as quoted by Chinese media outlet Xinhua.
“One day who knows? Maybe he could fulfill a dream to play with Corinthians,” he added.
Tardelli joined Shandong Luneng from Brazilian club Atlético Mineiro in the 2015 winter transfer window. His contract with the Chinese Super League side will last until January 2019.
In his first two years with Shandong Luneng, Tardelli struggled with injuries and poor form but enjoyed a prolific season in 2017 with 15 goals in 18 league matches.
The 32-year-old was even recalled to Brazil’s squad by coach Tite for World Cup qualifiers in September.
