Navy FC chairman vows to take drastic action against players involved in match-fixing

Navy FC chairman Rungsarit Sattayanukul vowed to take drastic action against their players who were involved in match-fixing.

According to the announcement from Football Association of Thailand (FAT), four Navy players Sutthipong Laoporn, Suwittaya Numsinlark, Seksan Chaothonglang and Narong Wongthongkham were believed to be among 12 people involved in fixing Thai football league games in July and September.

“It’s unbelievable that this thing happened with our players. In fact it’s clearly stated in the club charter that any kind of involvement in matchfixing and cheating are prohibited,” Rungsarit said during a press conference at the Sattahip Navy Stadium on Friday, as quoted by the Nation.

“Punishment will be double and more severe than usual if they are guilty, as they would be bringing shame to the club. They could be expelled from service,” the Navy chief said.

Rungsarit also insisted stricter measurements would be used to recruit players in the next season.
