Iran remain Asia’s top team in latest FIFA rankings

Iran remains Asia’s top-ranked team in the latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday.

Team Melli moved up to world’s number 32 in the rankings, an improvement of two places from October.

Meanwhile, second-ranked Australia, thanks to their FIFA World Cup 2018 Play-off wins over Syria and Honduras,  jumped to 39th from 43rd spot previously.

Despite dropping down 11 places, Japan remained Asia’s third highest ranked team.

In the Southeast Asia region, the Philippines is the highest ranked nation at No 118, followed by Vietnam (125), Thailand (132), and Indonesia (154).

Germany have held on to FIFA’s top spot, while Brazil follow the world champions in second place, with Euro 2016 winners Portugal in third.
