Chinese Super League outfit Tianjin Quanjian have officially appointed Paulo Sousa as their new head coach.
The 47-year-old Portuguese tactician replaces Paulo Cannavaro, who is due to return to CSL champions Guangzhou Evergrande for a second spell.
Quanjian finished third in their debut season in the CSL this season, which means they successfully earned a ticket for the AFC Champions League (ACL) next year.
“Mr. Sousa’s teams are renowned for their tactical diversity and elegant style of play, which are a classic example of modern, aggressive football,” read an official statement as it was quoted by Goal China.
“Hopefully, Mr. Sousa will lead Tianjin Quanjian to scale new heights in seasons ahead and bring happiness to our fans in coming seasons.”
Sousa ended last season as Fiorentina’s manager, but decided to leave the Italian Serie A giants following the appointment of Stefano Pioli in June.
