Johor Darul Ta’zim win first-ever Malaysia Cup title

Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) finally won their first-ever Malaysia Cup title after claiming a 2-0 victory over Kedah at the Shah Alam Stadium on Saturday.

JDT pressed Kedah from the start and Mohd Aidil Zafuan Abdul Razak’s firmed header take the Southern Tigers the lead in the second minute.

Kedah’s efforts to strike back in the second half could level the score in the 55th minute but Baddrol Baktiar’s effort was denied by the crossbar.

The FA Cup winners suffered another setback when JDT doubled their lead from a counter-attacking move, which was finished by Argentine midfielder Gonzalo Cabrera, in the 62nd minute.

The victory earns JDT a memorable first Malaysia Cup title.
