Iraq’s Air Force Club clinch 2017 AFC Cup title

Iraq’s Air Force Club clinched the AFC Cup title for the second time following the 1-0 win over Tajikistan’s FC Istiklol on Saturday.

Air Force Club had a chance eight minutes after the start when they were rewarded a penalty, but Hammadi Ahmed’s shot was saved sensationally by goalkeeper Nikola Stosic.

Though the first half ended goalless, Emad Mohsin scored the only goal of the game in the 68th minute to seal the victory for Air Force Club.

The team from Iraq became only the third team in history to successfully defend the AFC Cup, the other two include Al Faisaly from Jordan (2005, 2006) and Al Kuwait (2012, 2013).
