Persebaya Surabaya congratulate Zeng Cheng on CSL triumph

Indonesian club Persebaya Surabaya have congratulated Guangzhou Evergrande goalkeeper Zeng Cheng after becoming the Chinese Super League winner this season.

Guangzhou Evergrande cruised to a seventh straight Chinese Super League title in style on Sunday, with a 5-1 hammering of Guizhou Zhicheng.

The victory gave Luiz Felipe Scolari’s men an unassailable nine-point lead over second-placed Shanghai SIPG, who went down 2-1 to Guangzhou R&F, with two games remaining.

And Persebaya were quick to take Facebook to salute their former goalkeeper, Zeng Cheng who played for the Surabaya-based team in 2005.

“The big family of Persebaya Surabaya would like to congratulate and feel the proud of Zeng Cheng’s success to become Chinese Super League champions with Guangzhou Evergrande,” read a post on Persebaya’s official Facebook.

The 30-year-old goalkeeper was on loan to Persebaya from a curently defunct Chinese club Wuhan Guanggu in 2005 before returning to CSL to play for Henan Jianye and now Guangzhou Evergrande.

Zeng Cheng has already capped 41 times with the Chinese national team since making his debut in a friendly match against Iran in June 2009.
