Chanathip and Kiatisuk take top gongs at 2017 AFF Awards

Thailand striker Chanatip Songkrasin and former head coach Kiatisuk Senamuang has picked up their second title at the 2017 AFF Football Awards, which took place in Bali, Indonesia on Saturday evening.

Chanathip won the top award AFF player of the year thanks to his contribution to Thailand’s success at last December’s Suzuki Cup.

Meanwhile, his former coach Kiatisuk was named AFF coach of the year.

The duo had also won the awards back in 2013 when it was held in Yangon, Myanmar.

“Certainly I am overjoyed with this win,” said Chanatip on AFF official website. “I am eternally grateful for this award and it will spur me to work harder in the coming year.”

For Zico, the win was recognition of the hard work which he had put in with the Thai team.

“It had never been easy,” said Kiatisak. “The matches were very close but I am pleasantly surprised by this award.”

The Thais reigned their supremacy in the ASEAN region by winning both the awards for the best national teams – men and women – as well as for Futsal team of the year.
