Al Wahda defender Hadi Al Masri has called on his team-mate to make Syrian people proud by advancing to the final of the AFC Cup this year.

Syrian football fans have tasted a joy after seeing their national team advance to the final round of Asian qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

And Masri is hoping that the joy will last longer as he is optimistic with the chance of Al Wahda throught to the grand final of tournament.

“All these results reflect on the Syrian national team so all the Syrian fans were supporting us,” the 31-year-old defender told AFC’s official site.

“Al Wahda represents Syria, just like the national team. This is how sport is and, God willing, Syria will continue to improve more and more.”

Al Wahda are scheduled to face Al Quwa Al Jawiya in the return leg at Saoud bin Abdulrahman Stadium, Qatar on Monday.
