Tajikistan giants FC Istiklol beat FC Panjshir 5-0 on Monday to win the Tajik League title for the sixth time in the club’s history.
The huge victory was enough for The Crowns to seal an unassailable nine-point lead over second-placed CSKA Pamir Dushanbe.
It was Istiklol’s second league title under head coach Mukhsin Mukhamadiev who also led the team to victory in the last year campaign.
The Dushanbe-based team now can turn their focus on winning the AFC Cup this year as they already advanced into the inter-zone playoff final.
Istiklol, who finished as runners-up in the 2015 edition of AFC Cup, are set to face Indian side Bengaluru FC over two legs on September 27 and October 18.
