Australia are targeting a goal fest against Thailand in Melbourne on Tuesday night to secure the automatic qualifying slot for 2018 World Cup in Russia.
“We all know what’s on the line,” said Australia’s most prolific scorer Tim Cahill in the pre-match press conference, as quoted by the Bangkok Post.
“This is a massive moment for our country to stake a claim in a World Cup. I feel we’re ready. Goals will definitely come. I’m confident we’ll score a lot of goals.”
The Socceroos, who are equal on points with Saudi Arabia, must gain a victory over Thailand in the final round of qualifying to avoid a third-place playoff scenario.
