China national team defender Feng Xiaoting is hoping for a “miracle” in the final 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier on September 5 against Qatar.
“We have been fighting so hard for the 2018 FIFA World Cup since last year,” said Guangzhou Evergrande centre-back Feng on the website of Asian Football Confederation.
“Now there is only one match to go, all of us are hoping to make a miracle happen.”
China’s shock 1-0 win over Uzbekistan in Thursday’s Group A match kept their own slim hopes alive.
Should they beat Qatar in Doha on Tuesday and other results go their way, the Marcello Lippi’side will earn a playoff place on the way to Russia next summer.
