Head coach Worrawoot Srimaka hit back at the criticisms after cementing the dominance of Thailand U-22 in regional football by a 1-0 win over hosts Malaysia at SEA Games final.
“We proved that we are true champions. We conceded only one goal — from a penalty kick. We scored in every game,” he told reporters after arriving at Suvarnabhumi airport on Wednesday, as quoted by Bangkok Post.
The former Thailand international added jokingly after Tuesday’s win: “The first thing I want to do is go back to see my wife and then find those who criticised me.”
Following the gold medal at SEA Games, Worrawoot will lead his side to compete in the finals of 2018 AFC U-23 Championship in China.
