Malaysia U-22 striker Safawi Rasid apologizes for the team’s failure at SEA Games final

Malaysia U-22 striker Safawi Rasid has apologized to local supporters for the team’s failure to win the football gold medal at 2017 SEA Games.

“I am disappointed that I could not help the team win the gold at KL2017,” said Safawi, as quoted by The News Straits Times.

“I apologize to all the Malaysian supporters who have been with us from start to finish.”

Malaysia failed to earn the men’s football gold medal at the Kuala Lumpur SEA Games after suffering from a heartbreak loss to Thailand in the final on Tuesday.

An accidental punching from Malaysia goalkeeper Haziq Nadzli handed the Young War Elephants their victory in the final.
