Indonesia U-22 won the bronze medal in 2017 SEA Games men’s football on Tuesday with a 3-1 victory over Myanmar U-22.
A sparse crowd in the Selayang Municipal Stadium saw the Young Garuda launch an inspiring comeback after Myanmar led 1-0 in the first-half.
Maung Maung Lwin’s clever run in the penalty box opened up the Indonesia defence as an unmarked Than Paing hit the opener in the 21st minute.
Luis Milla’s men pulled level through midfielder Evan Dimas in the 56th minute through a deflected low strike which caught Myanmar goalkeeper Sann Satt Naing out of his line.
Septian David Maulana’s strike from the edge of the box put Indonesia ahead two minutes later before Rezaldi Hehanusa scored the third goal in the 76th minute with a wonderful left-foot shot.
This was the fourth bronze medal for Indonesia in the SEA Games history after previously recorded similar achievements in 1981, 1989, 1999.
