Malaysia U-22 have booked their place in the last four of the 2017 SEA Games men’s football after beating Myanmar 3-1 on Monday.
Malaysia started to take control after fifteen minutes, but it was Myanmar who came the closest to scoring in the opening period of the first half when Si Aung Thu played an intelligent pass to an unmarked Aung Thu, but the tournament’s current joint-top scorer failed to control the ball properly.
However, it was the home side who took the lead when a weak shot from Matt Davies found N. Thanabalan, who simply slotted it home from a close range.
Just two minutes later, a cross from the right side by Kumaahran found Safawi, who nodded it home to double the advantage for Malaysia.
The home side added a third in the 82th minute when Thanabalan’s header beat Myanmar goalkeeper Sann Sat Naing before the Young White Angels pulled one back jus four minutes later.
