Malaysia U-22 Adib Zainudin: We are not playing to the best of our abilities in the SEA Games

Malaysia U-22 center-back Adib Zainudin has yet been convinced by the defensive playing of his side, who have leaked five goals in their last five matches.

In the 2018 AFC Under-23 Championship qualifiers in Bangkok last month, the team let in three goals in three matches and conceded two more in the two SEA Games matches thus far.

“Our defensive record is not so good because we are conceding one goal per match. It’s quite disappointing to leak in goals because of our own mistakes,” said Adib to The Star.

“We are not playing to the best of our abilities in the SEA Games. We are struggling to find our rhythm actually.”

Malaysia has owned enormous advantage of making for the semi-finals after two straight wins over Brunei and Singapore.

The Ong Kim Swee’s side will face title favorites Myanmar on 21 August before wrapping up their group fixtures against Laos two days later.
