Two goals from 19-year-old defender Doan Van Hau helped Vietnam defeat Timor Leste 4-0 in their opening match at the 29th SEA Games.
It took The Young Golden Stars just 8 minutes to open the score when Nguyen Cong Phuong’s corner brought troubles for Timor-Leste in the penalty area, allowing Hau to hit home from a close range.
Twelve minutes later, the Hanoi T&T defender turned provider when his cross found Ha Duc Chinh at the penalty area to double their tally.
Timor Leste came close to scoring when Henrique Wilson released a fierce shot on target, but Vietnamese goalkeeper Phi Minh Long was quick to parry it away.
