Leicester City striker Shinji Okazaki scored a goal in the English Premier League opener against Arsenal but could not help his team earn a point.
The Japanese international equalized for Leicester less than three minutes after Alexandre Lacazette headed a debut goal to put Arsenal 1-0 up against the visitor in the second minutes.
It was Jamie Vardy putting Leicester in front just before the half-time. Even after Danny Welbeck leveled for the Gunners on the stroke of half-time, Vardy restored Leicester’s lead after the break.
However, Leicester could not hold on for its first win at Arsenal since 1973 as Aaron Ramsey equalized seven minutes to time before substitute Olivier Giroud secure the win in the 85th.
“It never hurts to get your first goal early on in the season,” said Okazaki to Kyodo News.
“But I haven’t been able to score on a consistent basis, which is something I need to be able to do.”
