Cambodia U22 goalkeeper Um Sereyroth is confident that his team can earn favorable results at next month’s SEA Games despite being in the same group with strong opponents Thailand and Vietnam.
“Thailand U22 and Vietnam U22 are the strong teams in the region, they have excellent players in their squad,” the 21-year-old commented, as quoted by Keila Daily, about Cambodia U22’s main opponents at the SEA Games’s men football competition.
Regardless of the higher-qualified opponents, Um believed that his team had improved a lot in playing tactics, which would help them play more confidently at the regional sporting event.
“Recently, we have improved in tactics and playing style. If we are determined and disciplined, Cambodia U22 can beat both teams,” the National Defense Ministry FC goalkeeper said.
Cambodia U22 are proving to be tough opponents for both Thailand and Vietnam in the upcoming SEA Games, after their impressive performance in the AFC U23 Championship qualifiers.
Despite being unqualified, the Leonardo Vitorino’s side ended their qualification campaign with an impressive draw with China, a convincing win over the Philippines, and only suffered a defeat to Japan.
