Coach Ulisses Morais had a perfect match for Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) with their 5-0 win over Terengganu on Tuesday during the 5th group stage matches for the 2017 Malaysia Cup.
In a statement on the Southern Tiger’s Facebook page, Morais has expressed that he is content with his team’s performance.
“I’m very happy with the 5-0 result in the match against Terengganu and the performances from the players. We were aware that Terengganu are a strong side and have a good chance of returning to the top division.” the head coach said.
The Portuguese head coach also praised he solidarity of his team despite the long absence of defender Marcos Antonio due to injury in the 2-1 win over Perak in the MSL on 26.
“Previously, we had four centre-backs in Marcos Antonio, Fadhli Shas, Junior Eldstal and Aidil Zafuan, but we now are down to three. But our confidence is still the same without Marcos,” the head coach assured JDT fans.
“Fadhli Shas, he’s a quality player and showed a good game. Other players also showed good improvement.
They carried out their responsibilities very well. The most important thing is their understanding among each other. They understand the ideas and tactics from the coaches whether in training or games.”
JDT will play against Selangor on 5 August for a Super League match, and then again on 9 August for their final Malaysia Cup group stage match. Currrently, the Southern Tigers remain on top of Group D with 10 points.
