Former Premier League star Carlton Cole has been sacked by Persib Bandung on Wednesday due to his disappointing performances.
Cole, who has been playing alongside his former Chelsea team-mate Michael Essien at Persib, had been criticized for his “very bad” performances.
“He plays very badly compared to the other (foreign players) who have joined Persib. He had the worst performance (among the foreign players),” Persib manager Umuh Muchtar said, as quoted by The Mirror.
However, the 33-year-old insists he has not been given a fair chance and blame the manager for not supporting him.
“I was very surprised and disappointed what came out of Umuh Muchtar’s mouth on Sky Sports news in England. And I would like to clarify I have a great relationship with Persib and everyone connected to the team,” Cole said on his personal Instagram.
“I have not once mentioned this man’s name in a bad way, he has not once supported me since I arrived at the club. And I haven’t been treated fairly but I kept my mouth shut and worked hard and kept everything professional.”
Since joining the Indonesian Liga 1 side, the former West Ham striker has played in only five matches, often as a substitute, and failed to score a goal.
