Al Wasl sign Anthony Caceres on loan from Manchester City

UAE Pro League side Al Wasl have officially signed Manchester City-owned midfielder Anthony Caceres on loan with an option to buy.

The 24-year-old Australian previously spent one and a half years on loan at Manchester City’s sister club in the A-League, Melbourne City.

Argentine coach Rodolfo Arruabarrena, who like Caceres has Uruguayan heritage, recently called the player and convinced him to move to Al Wasl.

Caceres was signed by Manchester City from Central Coast Mariners in January last year, but he never player for the English Premier League giants as he was immediately loaned out to Melbourne City.

His move between the City Football Group clubs – a holding football company owned by Manchester City – sparked some controversy with transfer fees are not allowed to be paid directly between A-League clubs.
