Barcelona to continue pursuing Paulinho despite summer transfer window closed

While Neymar’s future is uncertain amid reports he could join PSG, Barcelona are trying to work on a deal to sign Paulinho from Guangzhou Evergrande when the winter transfer window opens.

According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Barca have not given up on a deal for Paulinho and are trusting his agent to get the job done.

The Brazil striker has been linked with a 25-million-euro deal to Barca, however, his team Guangzhou Evergrande was reluctant to let the 29-year-old leave before the Chinese transfer market closed on July 14 as he has been considered the key player.

Currently, the Chinese summer transfer window has closed, meaning they would be unable to sign a replacement if Paulinho was sold.

Therefore, the Spanish La Liga powerhouse may have to wait until January, when the European and Chinese transfer windows are both open, to secure Paulinho.

However, Paulinho’s agent has been in China for a week trying to negotiate terms and he is confident that the deal will be completed soon.
