Thailand U23 coach Worrawoot Srimaka: Even Messi won’t be able to play on this pitch

Despite goalless draw to Indonesia in the last Group H qualifying match on Saturday, Thailand U22 still book a spot for next year’s AFC U23 Championship in China.

A torrential rain caused the Bangkok National Stadium pitch to be waterlogged, thus deterred the attacking force of Thailand.

The draw still helped the Worrawoot Srimaka’s side secure their qualification to the final round of the tournament, however, they had to finish second below Malaysia in Group H with just one point less than the table toppers.

After the match, Thailand U22 head coach Worrawoot expressed his unsatisfactory about the poor condition of the pitch.

“Take the field and kick ahead. Even Messi won’t be able to play on this pitch,” the former Thailand international said, as quoted by Goal Thailand.

“I think if it had been a World Cup match, he would not play. Today, if one of my players got injured, it’s not worth it,” he added.
