Striker Teerasil Dangda has been pulled out of the King’s Cup squad due to personal issues.
The national team players reported for training at the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) headquarters in Hua Mark on Monday with the absence of Teerasil.
According to Bangkok Posts, SCG Muangthong United informed the FAT in a letter that their striker had withdrawn because of his lack fitness and his mental state after the recent death of a relative might affect his performance.
Along with Teerasil, his Muangthong team-mate Tristan Do has also been ruled out of the squad. The two footballers are replaced by Teerathep Winothai (BUFC) and Peeradon Chamratsamee (PUFC).
The annual tournament takes place on Friday and Sunday at Rajamangala National Stadium and features teams from North Korea, Belarus, and Burkina Faso.
Thailand will play against North Korea on Friday at 7.30pm after the match between Belarus and Burkina Faso at 4.30pm. The winners of the two matches will face off in Sunday’s final.
