Tokyo Verdy president: Totti will stay at Roma or play at Verdy

There have been lots of interest in Roma legend Francesco Totti since the midfielder left his boyhood club, including Major League Soccer clubs.

However, according to Tokyo Verdy president Hideyuki Hanyu, the J-League is looking the more likely destination.

“I’m currently hearing from the agent that there are only two options now for Totti, either to stay at Roma or play at Verdy. No options in America now,” he told reporters after his side drew 1-1 with Fagiano Okayama, as quoted by Daily Mail.

“There was an offer from Miami and LA, I heard, but I’ve been told they would not happen.

“I also hear that there are a lot of voices from fans saying, ‘Totti should finish at Rome’ and so, Totti is wanting to making decision on his own.”

After leaving Roma, the 40-year-old football legend is still unclear where his next destination will be, with retirement still an option.

It has been reported that J2-League Tokyo Verdy have expressed an interest in signing “The Golden Boy”, but there has been any response from Totti yet.
