Chonburi striker Thiago Cunha was sent off for sparking the half-time brawl at the 5-1 defeat against Ratchaburi FC in Saturday’s Thai League 1 game.
The incident came just after the end of first half when Cunha started complaining with the referees. The Brazilian then became agitated and threw water into the face of the Rachaburi’s staff as he thought the opponent had mocked him.
At this point, the staff responded by punching at Cunha’s face, resulting in the mass brawl between the staffs and players of both teams.
Before heading into the tunnel, the 32-year-old also chased a member of Ratchaburi to fight again and even pushed a security guard down the ground.
Both Cunha and the coaching staff of Ratchaburi were taken to the police station to report later.
The brawl ended up sending off Cunha with a straight red card and the Brazilian will be likely to face further punishment by the Thai League 1 government body when this issue is discussed in the next few days.
