Malaysia target final stage in SEA Games

The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) have set the target for the men’s Under-23 team to make the SEA Games final after the draw on Saturday.

“We must bring this team to the final. I think Ong Kim Swee, players and FAM have no choice but advance to the highest level because this event takes place in our country,” FAM secretary-general Datuk Hamidin Amin said, as quoted by Sinar.

“Talking about target, we have no specific target because I had a discussion with FAM president, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim before and he asked Kim Swee’s side to try their best for the best results.

But I have a strong feeling that we can do our best to get to the final and appease our football fan,” he added.

Malaysia have been placed in a favorable group for the men football competition in next month’s SEA Games, alongside 2015 silver medallist Myanmar, Singapore, Laos and Brunei.
