Aaron Mooy becomes Australia’s most expensive footballer

Huddersfield Town have completed the signing Aaron Mooy from Manchester City in a record deal for an Australian footballer.

The 26-year old midfielder was a key figure for Huddersfield as the team gained promotion to the English Premier League next season.

Mooy, who made 48 league appearances in the Championship Division last season completed the move to Kirklees Stadium for a club record fee of £8m, which could rise to £10m.

Signed from City Football Group sister club Melbourne City in A- League a year ago at no cost, Mooy made no appearances for Manchester City but shone on loan for Huddersfield.

No work permit is required as the Australian international with six goals in 28 caps holds a Dutch passport through his mother’s heritage.
