Consadole Sapporo set to sign ex-Muangthong striker Jay Bothroyd

According to The Hochi Shimbun, Consadole Sapporo are set to sign British striker Jay Bothroyd from J1 League side Júbilo Iwata.

A product of the Arsenal youth set-up, the 32-year-old begun his career with Coventry City, before joining Perugia in Italy but returned to England and played for various sides, including Charlton Athletic, Queens Park Rangers, and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

In 2014, Bothroyd sought for opportunities on Asian shores when he spent a season in Thai League  T1 club Muangthong United with 6 goals in 16 appearances.

After a relatively unsuccessful season in Thailand, Bothroyd signed for then J2 League club Júbilo Iwata, where he was the top scorer in the J2 League and aided his team in achieving promotion to J1 League.

Bothroyd won his only England cap in 2010 when Fabio Capello was in charge, coming on as a second-half substitute in a 2-1 friendly loss to France.
