Malaysia prepare for SEA Games with Guangzhou win on China tour

Malaysia Under-22 team have wrapped up their China tour by a 3-0 win over Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande’s reserve team on Thursday.

The goals scored by Malaysia U22 came from Jafri Firdaus Chew (33rd), Syafiq Ahmad (77th) and N. Thanabalan (89th).

Previously, the Young Tigers had drawn 2-2 with Guangzhou R&F reserves on June 13 after a 1-0 loss to China U22 three days earlier.

The China tour has been the final tests of Malaysia U22 head coach Ong Kim Swee for his players before he leads them to the Southeast Asia (SEA) Games in August, in which Malaysia is the host.

Besides the SEA Games, Ong Kim Swee’s other assignment is the AFC Under-23 qualifiers in Bangkok from 19-23 July. Malaysia are in Group H with Thailand, Indonesia, and Mongolia.
