An experimental Argentina side thrashed Singapore 6-0 in a friendly on Tuesday where the hosts hardly tested Jorge Sampaoli’s men at National Stadium.
It was a complete team effort from the Tango boys as Federico Fazio, Joaquin Correa, Papu Gomez, Leandro Paredes, Lucas Alario and Angel Di Maria chipped in with a goal each to thrash the South-East Asian side.
Despite lost to Argentina, who were without superstars like Lionel Messi and Gonzalo Higuain, Singapore head coach still praised his team spirit after putting solid defensive display especially in the first -half.
“Technically you can see how superior they were rotating the ball around. So comfortable making penetrative passes,” said Sundram was quoted by Channel News Asia.
“So it is a difficult line for us [to hold]. We sat deep and tried to organise. Credit [must go] to the boys.
“We were playing against one of the best teams in the world. The boys tried their best and they learnt a couple of lessons in this game. And let’s move on to the next game.”
Singapore will continue their 2019 Asian Cup qualifiers campaign against hosts Turkmenistan on September 5.
