Cambodia head coach Leonardo Vitorino has been preparing for the friendly match against Indonesia on Thursday, followed by an AFC Asian Cup qualifier against Afghanistan five days later.
Victorino is still chasing for his first win in charge of the national team since his appointment after he was unable to lead the Koupreys to a win in the friendly match against India, and then suffered a crushing 7-0 defeat away to Jordan in the AFC Asian Cup qualification.
The squad of 25 the Brazillian announced for the June 8 game in Phnom Penh was dominated by youngsters, explaining that he selected several young Cambodian footballers for the upcoming friendly because he was “doing it for the future”.
“We are constructing a new philosophy and a new team. Time by time we will improve. The players are working hard and we will change step by step,” he said, as quoted by The Khmer Times.
