Bangkok United FC has signed former Iran international footballer Mehrdad Pooladi from Al-Shahania, according to a statement posted on the club’s official website.
The 30-year-old midfielder, who can also play as a left-back, is perhaps best known for his stints at Iranian sides Mes Kerman and Persepolis, which gave him a chance to play for the Iran national team. He represented his country at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, displaying strong performances against Nigeria as well as Argentina.
Pooladi joined Qatari club Al-Shahania in 2015 following a ban from playing for the national team after it was determined that he fake his military exemption card.
The former Esteghlal footballer spent three seasons in Qatar, making 62 league appearances for Al-Shahania.
